Hello, my name is Time. I\u2019m a 2016-2017 US exchange student from EduDee. I did my exchange in Mississippi State. I\u2019d like to share what I went through before finally becoming an exchange student. After passing the exchange student testing, I had to wait for a host family to choose me. I remember getting my placement around July. I was the 4th or 5th student from my batch to be placed. I set foot in the US on August 4, 2016 and visited New York for 3 days before going on to Mississippi on Saturday, August 8, 2016. The first time I met my host family I was so excited. I remember that on the very first day, my host family took me straight to a water park. It was great but I was sleepy because of the long flight time.<\/p>\r\n
As for studying in school, I chose to study Geometry, World Geography, Personal Finance, Health, English 3 and Band, which was an activity-based subject. The subject I liked was Geometry because I found it easiest. The hardest subject for me was English 3 because it required studying literature not grammar like we study in Thailand. I was also a member of the school\u2019s marching band. I played the cymbals and later on I played the bell kit, chimes and the xylophone in the symphonic band and jazz band in Term 2. What impressed me most about being in the band was that I got a medal from competing with other schools. My school also had a prom which I attended with my friends. I was a lot of fun and an experience of mine in the US.<\/p>\r\n
My host family was wonderful. My host parents had 3 children. The oldest was in university, the second oldest was my age and the littlest one was in Grade 2 and was pretty energetic. My host family took me to church every Sunday and every Wednesday evening. At the beginning of every month we would visit a nursing home to sing for the senior citizens. I had the chance to play the piano every time we went. On Christmas Day, I got so many gifts from my host family and on my birthday my host parents bought me a cake to celebrate.<\/p>\r\n
Lastly, I\u2019d like to say that being an exchange student once in your life makes it possible to make many new friends and gives you the opportunity to live with a host family and be with friends. If I have the chance to, I\u2019d like to visit with them all some day.<\/p>\r\n
